Fashion is all about change, trends and expression. The demands of today's fast-paced,
rapidly changing and technologically challenging fashion industry requires fashion
graduates to be not only highly skilled and practiced in the art and technique of fashion,
but also to be highly adaptable individuals who address challenges creatively, generate
solutions and apply them in real-world situations.
Programme Content
• Creative fashion design and production.
• Concept investigation and fashion practice in the context of the comtemporary
fashion environment.
• Planning and production of a final major collection.
• Develop technical skills in fabric printing.
• Skills in a range of art and design 2D software packages.
• Fashion production related computer technology.
Programme Purpose
The Graduate Diploma in Fashion is a one-year, Level 7 programme. This programme aims
to enable you to achieve an educational experience that supports an advanced level of
aesthetic, technical and analytical development through creative application. You will be
introduced to the expectations and demands of the fashion industry. You will be equipped
with the skills to produce work to a professional standard that meets fashion industry
standards and enhance your skills to produce work that shows creative expression.
The Graduate Diploma in Fashion recognises that both degree graduates, and those with
industry acquired skills, want to engage in a course of study that exposes them to
contemporary and advanced fashion practices and knowledge.
Entry Requirements
• A Bachelor degree, or higher from an accredited provider in a relevant field.
• Graduate equivalency for those who can demonstrate appropriate practical,
professional or educational experience.
International students are required to have IELTS of 6.0, or equivalent.
Those entering with a Bachelor degree, or higher qualification, will be required to present
either an original or certified copy of their academic transcript from the awarding institute.
It is desirable for students to demonstrate past experience in the fashion field or a
fashion qualification.

Part C: On-going Costs
For the duration of the programme there are on-going costs for materials such as fabric, trims, interfacing, threads, printing, photocopying and stationery.
The cost for additional materials is at the discretion of the student and depends on the work produced.
You may be asked to pay for lost or damaged equipment and books that belong to UCOL.
Note: On completion of the programme all equipment and books belonging to UCOL must be returned and debts settled before you can receive your certificate.
