Welcome from Katrina Langdon, Associate Dean – Creative
The Quay School of the Arts is located in Wicksteed Street, on the former Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic site.
Also onsite, and a part of the Quay School, is the iconic Whanganui Glass School. The campus is within easy walking distance of the Sarjeant Art Gallery, The Whanganui Regional Museum, the Whanganui District Library and dealer galleries.
The Quay School has a range of specialist media areas in which students can specialize, and these include: sculpture, painting, glass, printmaking and photography. Study options include a four year Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, a one year Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts, a one year Certificate in Art and Design, and a three year Diploma in Glass Design and Production.
Our own gallery the Edith Gallery, supports student, faculty and visiting artists, and has an exhibition schedule which is frequently being updated with new and exciting contemporary shows.
Access to our internationally trained lecturers, all artists and academics, is a welcome support during your art degree.
Our graduates go on to become outstanding, award winning studio artists, teachers, museum and gallery professionals and are represented in collections throughout the world.
*With the Whanganui District Council’s support, UCOL will continue to offer the Glass Course at the Whanganui Glass School.
