Welcome from Katrina Langdon, Programme Leader, Quay School of the Arts.
The Quay School of the Arts is located next to the Whanganui River, in the historic turn of the century warehouse district. The school is part of a complex of buildings that also house the award winning Whanganui School of Design and Whanganui School of Fashion. The school is within an easy walk of the Sarjeant Art Gallery, The Whanganui Regional Museum, the Whanganui District Library and dealer galleries.
Our own galleries, the Edith Gallery and Federal Hotel Gallery, support student, faculty and visiting artist exhibitions and our student studio spaces and workshops housing Painting, Photography, Glass*, Printmaking and Sculpture are amongst the best in the country.
Access to our internationally trained lecturers, all artists and academics, is a welcome support during your art degree. Quay School of the Arts students also are able to apply for the prestigious pattillo scholarship, a $7,500 art scholarship offered annually by Ann Pattillo.
Our graduates go on to become outstanding, award winning studio artists, teachers, museum and gallery professionals and are represented in collections throughout the world.
*With the Whanganui District Council’s support, UCOL will continue to offer the Glass Course at the Whanganui Glass School.
