If you have chosen a course that you want to study and are ready to apply, you should follow the steps below.

Download the Admission and Enrolment Form for International Students

UCOL is a signatory to the Ministry of Education's Code of Practice for Pastoral Care of International Students.  The code is a framework for minimum standards, good practice procedures and a complaints procedure for providers enrolling international students.

Step 1

Complete the Admission and Enrolment Form for International Students. Refer to the back of the International Student Prospectus for help to complete your application form if required, as well as to answer any questions you may have. If you have trouble filling this out, or you cannot find the answer to your question, contact our International Office:

If you already live in New Zealand, you are welcome to call into one of UCOL's Information Centres based at Whanganui or Palmerston North for further assistance.

Complete a Criminal Convictions Disclosure Form if your programme requires this.

Step 2

Send your application to us, along with any supporting documentation required, for example your IELTS result, and your academic history. Send the application form back to us at the following address:

International Office
Private Bag 11022
Palmerston North
New Zealand

If you live locally you can drop it off directly to your nearest UCOL Information Centre.

Your application will be assessed upon arrival. If you meet all entry requirements, you will be sent an Unconditional Offer of Place letter. If we still require more information from you, we will send you a Conditional Offer of Place, which will outline for you the documents we still need you to send to us.

Step 3

Once you have received your Unconditional Offer of a Place, you need to indicate your acceptance or decline the offer. If you are accepting our offer, you will need to pay your tuition fees (UCOL's refund policy for international students). We can then send you a receipt which you can take to the Immigration New Zealand to obtain your student visa. Accepting your place well in advance of your course start date, and paying your fees will help to ensure that your place on the course is reserved (if you have been offered a place in a course(s) and/or qualification where the maximum number of places has been capped).

Even if you no longer wish to enrol, please let us know. Your place on the course will then become available to others. Remember, we cannot complete your enrolment until we have sighted your up-to-date student visa, as well as evidence of your travel/medical insurance.

Step 4

Once all steps outlined above have been completed, you are now able to be enrolled at UCOL. You will be sent an orientation pack, along with an invoice showing any outstanding fees you may need to pay. The outstanding fees must be paid by you on or before the first day you attend UCOL.

Student Visas

To be able to study in New Zealand, you will need to apply for a student visa.  Once you have been made an Unconditional Offer of Place to study at UCOL and have paid your course fees, you are able to apply for your student visa. You will need to complete an application to ttudy in New Zealand form and a financial undertaking form. These forms are available from New Zealand diplomatic posts, embassies and at your nearest immigration office.

The Immigration New Zealand website gives an overview of a number of conditions you need to meet before you get here and others you must meet during your stay.
