Palmerston North Scholarships

Palmerston North currently has nine scholarships available for students. Several of which are open to all UCOL students on all three campuses. Application forms are individualised for each scholarship. Each scholarship has a given criteria and is assessed accordingly. The High Achievers Awards and the Andrew Cliff Award are driven by staff nomination.

 

Application forms can be requested from ScholarshipPN@ucol.ac.nz or picked up at Hub Central, Block 6, Palmerston North Campus.

 

The selection of a recipient is made by a panel of three people chosen at the discretion of the administrator.  This panel shall not comprise of any applicants referees or any  individuals nominating an applicant for a UCOL scholarship.

 

An award ceremony is held each semester to acknowledge successful students. The successful recipients agree to attend the award ceremony where they will be presented with a certificate and cheque.

New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) Electrical Engineering Level 6 students who are awarded a scholarship will recieve payment of the first year tuition portion of their fees. They will still need to pay the Student Services Levy portion of the fee.

Andrew Cliff Award - PN

Applicants must be nominated by a staff member. 

 

This scholarship is aimed at rewarding a student or students who have demonstrated a willingness to support and aid others with their course of study. 

 

Applicants must have been studying at UCOL in the previous academic year and be currently enrolled at and attending a course here.

Fletcher Challenge Trust - PN

In making the award the Committee will consider the applicant’s personal history, achievement and effort. This does not necessarily mean that the candidate will be an “A” student, as consideration will be given to the applicant’s previous academic achievement and the effort that has been put into this particular course.

Graduate Women Manawatu

Candidates will be female degree students. At the time of the making of the award, they will either be enrolled in the first semester of the third year of their course or be enrolled in the second semester of the second year of their course.
In making the award the committee will consider the applicants history, achievement and effort. This does not necessarily mean that the candidate will be an “A” student, as consideration will be given to the applicant’s previous academic achievement and the effort that has been put into this particular course.

Colleen McPherson Memorial Scholarship - PN

The aim of the scholarship is to give financial help to a student who has a ‘dependent' with a disability and is facing additional costs or exceptional circumstances. The scholarship may be awarded to more than one student. 
In making the award the selection committee will consider the circumstances of each applicant, including how much responsibility you have for the dependant and what extra costs are incurred. 
The dependant can be a child, spouse, partner or other family member to whom you provide care for.
High Achievers Award - PN

There will be $1000 allocated to each of the three faculties.
Candidates are to be nominated by a staff member of their Faculty. 
In making the award the Committee will consider the applicant’s academic performance, achievement and effort.

Ralph Flavell​ - PN

To encourage and assist Mäori student/s in their pursuit of a higher level of learning that pertains to the survival and revitalisation of the Maori language and culture. 


The Scholarship is not restrictive to a specific tribal affiliation but open to all tribes. 


The applicant must have proven commitment to Te Reo Rangatira me ona tikana.
