Welcome to an Exciting New Opportunity in Tertiary Learning

Offering Year 12 and 13 students the opportunity to gain additional credits towards NCEA and tertiary qualifications while at school. If you want to get the most out of your school education and get a head start in your career, take a look at what U-Skills can offer.  
Applications have closed for the first block of programme delivery. We are now accepting applications for the second block of programme delivery. A limited number of places on some programmes may be available mid-year, talk to your school about this option. Applications can be lodged and interviews will take place in early May with programmes starting from 3 June 2014.

U-Skills programmes are available in a range of career areas that will assist you to explore your career options, provide connections with employers and assist you to transition into further training or employment.
If you need transport, don’t worry, we will arrange this for you, at no cost for students. *conditions apply

What does it Cost?

There are NO programme fees and NO cost for programme materials. Provided you meet our entry criteria we will award you a “fees free” place. Just fill in an application, get your school to support your application and send it in. We’ll hold an interview with you so you can tell us why you want a place on the programme.

Creative Arts
Graphics and Design Level 2, 29 credits

Manufacturing and Technology
Applied Engineering Level 3, 31 credits
Automotive Level 2, 26 credits
Electrical Level 2, 28 credits
Mechanical Engineering Level 2, 30 credits

Service Industries
Fashion, Hair and Beauty Level 2, 29 credits
Hospitality Level 2, 25 credits

Social and Community Services
Business Administration Level 2, 27 credits +
Young Enterprise Scheme Level 3, 24 credits
Health - 42 credits Level 3

Additional U-Skills programme
Careers Development, 16 credits, 13 Level 2, 3 Level 3 – delivered to all U-Skills students

Ready to Make a Start? 

Great. But first, to attend U-Skills:  
  • You need to be enrolled in a government funded secondary school, have an endorsement from that school and be returning for your year 12 or 13 year (See the enrolment form in the centre of the U-Skills Enrolment Booklet).
  • You must undertake NCEA study in 2013.
  • You will be required to attend an interview to gain acceptance into U-Skills.
