Te Wananga o Tamaki Nui a Rua and Universal College of Learning (UCOL) are working in partnership to deliver the Certificate in Maori Studies Level 4 in Dannevirke.

This programme will help learners to gain confidence and ability to use Te Reo Māori, and to contribute positively to the community and in their workplaces. Students will study Te Reo Māori as well as tikanga marae (Māori customs and traditions).

The programme will be delivered on the Te Aonui Papakainga in Robertshawe Crescent in Dannevirke using a combination of weekly classes and weekend workshops known as noho marae.  Classes start 27 July and anyone interested in coming along should contact Tamai Nicholson.

Bridget Percy, UCOL’s Head of School (Education), says that UCOL are very excited to be working with the Dannevirke community to deliver programmes that they want.  “Being able to work with the local community to help meet their needs is very important to UCOL. We hope this is the first of many opportunities to support the learning needs in the Tararua District.”
