If you are eligible to graduate (as a result of completing your programme at UCOL) you will need to apply to graduate and confirm your address so you are able to receive your award – whether it is via post or at a ceremony. You will be sent an application form with your academic record at the conclusion of your study. Please note that if you have any outstanding student debt (e.g. course fees, library fines), UCOL has may withhold your award until the debt has been cleared.
Information is provided to all students who have indicated on their application forms that they will be attending graduation, via graduation packs distributed in January/February. These packs also contain items such as guest tickets, academic regalia hire information, photographer information and maps. Graduands may invite a maximum of four guests to the ceremony and refreshments that follow.
At the end of the ceremony, the official academic party and graduates exit the theatre to form a procession. Guests are invited to join in on the end of the procession which will proceed through town (weather permitting) to the UCOL Atrium for refreshments.
An official photographer will attend all ceremonies to take photos of graduates receiving their awards. For portrait packages the photographer will be available in the Atrium before and after the ceremonies. A leaflet will be enclosed within graduation packs outlining the prices and ordering information. Individuals are welcome to take photos and videos during the ceremony.
For Diploma and Degree graduands in Palmerston North, academic regalia is required.
