To celebrate World Radiography Day on the 8th of November, second year UCOL Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Imaging Technology) students took part in an Amazing Race around Palmerston North on Friday.

Thirty seven students, split into six teams, were given challenges and clues which directed them to radiology sites around the city including; Pacific Radiology, Broadway Radiology, The Palms Radiology, MidCentral Health and Breast Screening Coast to Coast.

Medical Imaging Technology lecturer Anna Ainsworth, who organised the event, says that it is important for students to be supported to celebrate World Radiography day.

"We are a very tight-knit industry and work closely with each other as professionals, for this reason it's great to give students the opportunity to feel a sense of belonging and ownership within the industry that they are working towards entering."

The winners of the race were awarded a prize pack and industry participants were presented with a token of appreciation from UCOL.

"We have had great feedback from staff, students and industry," Ms. Ainsworth says. "Our industry connections were really impressed with the students coming through and their enthusiasm for World Radiography day so we hope to be able run this event again next year."
