This programme will provide you with the opportunity to experience working hands-on in UCOL's teaching laboratory learning microbiology and chemistry.  You will gain the foundation skills to become a laboratory technician.

This programme comprises 24 credits.

The standards delivered are as below,

6345: Analyse oxidation - reduction reactions (Level 3) (Version 7) (Credits 4)
8035: Carry out visualisation and measurement of microorganisms (Level 4) (Version 6) (Credits 4)
8040: Perform aseptic laboratory techniques (Level 4) (Version 6) (Credits 4)
8091: Use and maintain a light microscope (Level 4) (Version 6) (Credits 2)
26117: Work safely in a science laboratory (Level 3) (Version  3) (Credits 2)
91387: Carry out an investigation in chemistry involving quantitative analysis (Level 3) ( Version 2) (Credit 4)
91601: Carry out a practical investigation in a biological context, with guidance (Level 3) (Version 2) (Credits 4)

 Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 11 - 13 secondary school students (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or students with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).

Applications are to be received from participating schools.
