This one-year certificate focuses on the core treatments offered in the ever-expanding beauty industry which include facials, manicures, make-up, lash tinting, waxing, brow shaping and more.

There is also a theory component that gives you a closer look into the world of beauty therapy. This will cover business awareness, professional conduct, systems of the body and the theory behind the treatments you perform.

This programme will enable you to have the confidence to perform treatments on clients, establish relationships and conduct your services in a professional manner. You can further your learning and career by continuing onto the Diploma in Beauty Therapy to further develop and enhance your existing skills and learn more advanced beauty therapy treatments.

Domestic Entry Requirements

Open Entry. Literacy and numeracy requirements of NCEA Level 1 or equivalent.

International Entry Requirements

English Profiency Entry Requirements:
IELTS Academic or General score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0 (or equivalent) which must be achieved in one sitting.

Advice & Guidance

Students will be advised that they will carry out practicum hours in the model beauty salon which is complete with reception facilities. They are expected to work on clients who book into the ‘salon’ for treatments which enables the students to complete the necessary activities for practical assessments.

Students will be required to wear a uniform (supplied by UCOL) and comply with UCOL and industry standards of personal presentation.

In order to achieve the written components of the programme students will need to have a basic level of numeracy and literacy skill.

To optimise chances of success 100% attendance is strongly recommended.
