In this popular Certificate in Fashion and Beauty programme you will study elements of fashion, catwalk, hairdressing and beauty therapy.  You will also explore careers as a fashion designer or beauty therapist and gain communication skills while working through NCEA level 1 numeracy and literacy unit standards. This programme contains both practical (hands on) and theory in all components.

The ‘Hair and Consumer Care’ component teaches the basics of maintaining healthy hair, fashion trends (hair), styling and temporary hair colour.

In ‘Beauty’ you will learn about presentation skills which include skin care, make-up application, manicure and pedicure along with fashion trends (beauty).

The ‘Fashion and Catwalk’ papers provide an introduction into the fashion retail industry and covers fabric dyeing, basic apparel design, historical influences and basic catwalk modelling.

‘Careers and Personal Development’ focuses on career options, career planning and pathways to higher learning.  Creating a curriculum vitae and gaining interview skills are also part of this component, along with budgeting skills.

There are six NCEA numeracy and literacy papers embedded into all papers of The Certificate in Fashion and Beauty programme.
