If you're aspiring to study business at tertiary level, but don't have the entry requirements, consider studying UCOL's New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4) (Business Pathway). Students will sharpen study techniques, written and verbal communication skills and will receive learning in both accounting and management so they can make an informed decision on their preferred pathway. Numeracy skills relevant to accounting are covered as well as background theory and practice in management.

This course will also suit students who are returning to study, and wish to revise their business knowledge before embarking on a business diploma or degree.

 Career & Study Outcomes

Holders of this qualification will be able to progress to further study or training at Level 5 and above (degree, diploma or certificate) related to the context of their programme.

 International Entry Requirements

International Applicants:
Minimum entry for international students of IELTS General or Academic Level 5.5 with no band lower than 5, (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible).

UCOL is a TOEFL iBT testing centre.

In addition to this international applications under the age of 20 must have NCEA equivalency (refer to Business Development International).

 Advice & Guidance

As strands are introduced students will be able to tailor their study towards their particular area of interest – eg health science, trades.

 Accreditation

The programme is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and Universal College of Learning (UCOL) Trading as Universal College of Learning (UCOL) is accredited to teach it.
