If you’re thinking about a new career, learning something new, or improving your job prospects, there’s never been a better time to jump in. The New Zealand Government has just expanded its fees-free study options, giving you that extra helping hand to get to where you want to be.
This expansion of fees-free study for 2020-2022, under the new Targeted Training Apprenticeship Fund, means that free study is available for those taking programmes that will help our COVID-19 response.
No matter what study you’ve done previously, this is your chance for up to two and a half years of free study and a fresh start. If you’re interested in trades, engineering, care work or the primary industries, UCOL’s programmes are completely free to study (up to $6,500 per year). You don’t need to apply to access the fund - just enrol in an eligible programme (see those below), and the Fund will take care of everything until 31 December 2022. Take this opportunity to get ahead – and keep checking back, as more programmes may be added.
If you’re interested in studying courses that aren’t included in the Targeted Training Apprenticeship Fund, and you’re studying for the first time, there may be a different form of funding available to you. If you’ve done less than six months of study, you’re likely to be eligible for one year of fees-free study. This funding is available for almost all of UCOL programmes, not just the ones listed below. Have a look through our full list of programmes, and there will be a link on each programme page discussing how to check if you’re eligible.
