UCOL campuses are organising pōwhiri and re-orientation activities to welcome new students and staffs. Here are the re-orientation events at the Manawatū campus.
Monday 25 July – Pōwhiri
Location: The Atrium
Time: Meet at 9.00am, pōwhiri starts at 9.30am
The pōwhiri is how we welcome new students and staff to campus. New students and staff are to assemble on the grass at the Princess Street entrance at 9am to practice the waiata (song). Returning students and staff meet on the café side of the Atrium at 9.15am, ready for the pōwhiri to start at 9.30am.
Monday, 25 July - Meet and Greet BBQ
Location: The Atrium
Time: 12-1pm
Swing by the Atrium again at 12pm again for a free BBQ lunch and a chance to meet some new people and enjoy getting in to life at UCOL.
Tuesday 26 July - Student Success Day
Location: The Atrium
Time: 12pm-1pm
UCOL’s Student Success team offers a range of services and groups to help you get the most out of your time at UCOL. Whether it’s counselling, study workshops, the library, or any of our other services, Student Success is here to help you have the best UCOL experience in and out of the classroom.
Come along to meet the Student Success team and learn how their services can help you. Don’t forget to pick up an information bag and enjoy a free chip butty for lunch.
We’ll also have a visit from some of our dog pals at Canine Friends Pet Therapy.
Wednesday 27 July - Community Connect!
Location: The Atrium
Time: 12pm-1pm
There are so many great organisations and groups in the Manawatū that can assist you with life as a student. Community Connect! is your chance to get to know organisations that can provide wellness, social and cultural support.
Have a chat to the different service providers and grab a free burger for lunch. Help yourself to free candyfloss, and take some snaps in the photo booth.
Thursday 28 July – Games Day
Location: Atrium
Time: 12pm-1pm
Come along to the atrium, grab some lunch then get involved in some of the awesome games that we will have on offer. There will be something for everyone.
Friday 29 July – Winter Warm up
Location: Atrium
Time: 12pm-1pm
It’s getting a bit chilly, so warm up and chill out to end the week with some hot nachos and cool music for lunch!
