Taratahi Taster courses are completely free, including accommodation and meals during the training Monday-Friday. On the weekends you can return home or stay on site, though you will need to self-cater. The course is held at Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre, just outside of Masterton in the Wairarapa, where hard-working Kiwis have developed their farming skills for over 100 years.
Taster Camps
A range of flexible options, or taster camps, are available to introduce you to the primary sector. The training is done at Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre, you’ll be sliding on your gumboots and seeing what’s involved first hand. You’ll visit local farms, work with industry professionals and learn what kind of career lights your fire and suits your strengths. A range of subject options are offered throughout the year depending on the season and the needs of the industry.

Taster CampsTaught by experienced industry representatives, you will get a good ground knowledge in topics:
No prior academic qualification is required, however participants must be physically fit and be 18 years old or over.

Meals on the weekend are self-catered at your own cost, meals during weekdays are free. Accommodation at Taratahi, including on the weekends, is free. Alternatively, participants are welcome to go home for the weekend and return by 8am Monday.
