Learn the essential skills required in the industry including communication and customer service, toursim workplace practices, and itinerary planning. Gain an understanding of the role and economic importnace of the tourism and travel industry in New Zealand.

Unit Standard 25193 (Level 3) (Version 2) (8 Credits)
Demonstrate knowledge of ground terminology and products used in the travel industry.

Unit Standard 23755 (Level 3) (Version 2) (3 Credits)
Identify and self-evaluate the demand of a specific role in a tourism workplace

Unit Standard 25194 (Level 3) (Version 2) (2 Credits)
Produce and check numeric documents for the travel industry.

Unit Standard 23758 (Level 3) (Version 3) (4 Credits)
Demonstrate knowledge of communication and customer service theory in a tourism workplace

Unit Standard 23769 (Level 3) (Version 2) (3 Credits)
Demonstrate knowledge of the sales function within a tourism workplace

 Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 11 - 13 secondary school students (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or students with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).

Applications are to be received from participating schools.

UCOL's Academy Introduction to Tourism and Travel in New Zealand Programme comprises 22 Credits.

This short course is part of a suite of 'Academy' programmes offered by UCOL to secondary students seeking to explore their career options while still in school. Gain practical experience and NCEA Credits.
