In this workshop you will gain a better understanding of the Māori way of doing things, and the importance of being open to other perspectives and experiences.
Authentic Tikanga for the Workplace
In Aotearoa, New Zealand, we have a unique cultural landscape, and the practices of Māori businesses are beginning to be recognised. Māori have been integrating circular thinking into their business culture for years, and there is much to be learnt from their practices.
Tikanga is generally taken to mean the Māori way of doing things and applies to business as well as everyday life. This workshop covers foundational principles in the Māori world and Tikanga 101 in the workplace and functions through mahi, powhiri and karakia.
At the end of this workshop, you will be more confident and have a better understanding of the meaning and importance of these.
Critical Consciousness and Inclusion in the Workplace: Exploring Our Bias and Beliefs
We each come to work with our own world views and experiences. These form the way we think and behave. When working alongside others, it is important to be open to other perspectives and experiences.
At the end of this workshop, you will be more confident in these areas:
- Understanding the concept of Critical Consciousness and its place in the workplace.
- Exploring your own biases and beliefs and their impact in the workplace.
- Connecting with your organisation's values in action.
- Utilising specific techniques for building inclusive practices.
The workshop is facilitated by Donna Barlow-Rolleston. Donna is an intermediate speaker of Te Reo Māori. She is passionate about sharing the wealth of knowledge that the Māori world offers through Reo and Tikanga.
