Māori and Pasifika

Supporting Māori and Pasifika success at UCOL

Kia ora, kia orana, noa’ia, talofa lava, mauri, mālō e lelei, tālofa, ni sa bula vinaka, fakaalofa lahi atu, mālō ni and warm greetings.

At UCOL, nearly a third of our ākonga identify as tangata whenua, influencing our learning environments that continue to be shaped to be inclusive, multicultural, and grounded in Te Ao Māori. We are committed to increasing the number of Māori and Pacific students who choose to study with us and supporting their success throughout their learner journey.

UCOL will provide you with access to a range of culturally responsive support services, whānau rooms, and opportunities to connect, belong, and thrive during your time with us.

Te Atakura

UCOL's culturally responsive, relationships-based approach, grounded in research and guided by kaupapa Māori values, towards achieving ōritetanga (equity) within tertiary education.

Te Mana Tauira Raukura

Holistic pastoral care, provided by our Raukura team for UCOL's ākonga Māori and Pasifika, using Te Whare Tapa Whā.

Marae and whānau rooms

Our marae and whānau rooms on each campus, places where culture, care, and connection thrive.
