Our Te Mana Tauira Student Success team provide a range of services to help our ākonga (students) succeed!
Regardless of whether you need a little extra academic support, help with your overall holistic wellbeing, or assistance with accessibility/disability needs, our friendly teams are here to help. Book in today using the button above, or find out more below.
On the Manawatū campus, you’ll find the team on the ground floor of Block 6 (6.0.16), known as the Student Success lounge off the main Atrium.
On our Whanganui campus, you’ll find the team at the library desk.
Our Wairarapa ākonga can find the team in Te Pā Hao (the Hub).
Academic Support
If you need some extra help with your studies, talk with our Learning Advisors. They can give you tips on things like time management, writing essays, CV writing, and presentations. Our Learning Advisors also run tutorials, 1:1 sessions, in-class and group workshops throughout the year to help you get ahead in your studies, including:
Writing - assignments, essays, reports
Reading - understanding, note taking, and summarising
Speaking - presentations
Study strategies - goal setting, time management, and planning.
Revision techniques, exam strategies and more.

Holistic Support and Care
Your physical, spiritual, mental and emotional wellbeing plays a big part in your success in the classroom. We have kaimahi (staff) who can provide assistance, or refer you to organisations that support your physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.

Library services
The UCOL campus libraries are well-stocked with information and resources related to all our programmes. The library website provides access to many online resources.
The libraries also provide quiet study spaces, computer access, photocopying/printing, and laptop loans. Laptop loans for Manawatū ākonga (students) can be provided at our information help centre.
We know that finding the right information for your assignment can be challenging, so our library staff can assist you in developing your information searching and research skills.
Disability Support
UCOL provides support services to help students with disabilities, impairments, or temporary injuries that affect learning. If you think your health or disability may affect your study, please declare a disability when you enrol in your programme, or come and have a chat with our team.
Inter-campus Bus Services
Horizons Regional Council provide bus services within the Manawatū-Whanganui region. UCOL ākonga (students) can travel the following buses for free: Palmerston North, Ashhurst, Feilding, Whanganui, and Whanganui to Palmerston North Commuter.
