A highlight of the UCOL calendar is commemorating the achievements of our students at Graduation. Everyone who is involved in our students' study journey - from lecturers to whānau, gather together for what is a formal and enjoyable occasion.
This year, 1787 UCOL graduates received their qualifications at the graduation ceremonies held at Manawatū, Whanganui, Wairarapa, and Horowhenua. UCOL Chief Executive Dr Linda Sissons mentioned graduation as a great achievement, acknowledging students and staff efforts in rising to the challenges posed by the pandemic. Dr Sissons said that graduation is a highlight of the year and graduates' chance to celebrate with their family, friends, and UCOL staff.
In 2020, the Bachelor of Nursing was the largest graduating classes at UCOL's Manawatū (111 graduates), Whanganui (27), and Wairarapa (27) campuses. Meanwhile the NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care Level 4, with 24 graduates, was the biggest at UCOL Horowhenua.
The Horowhenua graduation ceremony also celebrated 55 graduates who have completed programmes delivered in partnership with Horowhenua Learning Centre (HLC).
Rising in popularity are UCOL’s Early Childhood Education programmes, which have some of the largest graduating cohorts on each campus. This year also saw the first graduating classes from the Bachelor of Applied Science (Laboratory Science) and the NZ Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Business Pathway).
