UCOL is supporting this year’s Whanganui Techweek, including sponsoring the networking event “Celebrating Tech” at HiveHQ on Victoria St on May 20.
UCOL’s Academic Portfolio Manager ECE & Languages, Jan MacGibbon, who is part of the Whanganui campus leadership team, says they are proud to support regional innovation, help strengthen industry connections, and contribute to the local tech ecosystem.
Whanganui Techweek last year involved more than 40 events and attracted 500-plus attendees. About 150 rangatahi (young people) were able to interact with innovators, educators, community leaders and businesses over the seven days, showcasing local talent and building connections.
Organisers are expecting this year’s Techweek, from May 18-24, to be just as successful.
UCOL, with campuses in Whanganui, Manawatū, Horowhenua, and Wairarapa, will sponsor the informal social networking evening designed to encourage connections between industry, educators, learners and the wider community.
UCOL is working in partnership with the Whanganui Tech Network Charitable Trust (Te Tarahiti Whatunga Hangarau o Whanganui).
