Delivered from 9am - 3pm on Thursdays

This programme comprises 22 credits.

Unit Standard 25068 (Level 2) (Version 2) (5 Credits)

Perform basic residential plumbing maintenance under supervision.

Unit Standard 24354 (Level 2) (Version 3) (4 Credits)

Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety legislation and apply safe working practices in a BCATS environment.

Unit Standard 21883 (Level 2) (Version 3) (3 Credits)

Demonstrate knowledge of working in gas contaminated environments in plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying projects.

Unit Standard 30557 (Level 2) (Version 1) (4 Credits)

Select, describe, use, and maintain tools for plumbing and drainlaying projects.

Unit Standard 2139 (Level 2) (Version 4) (3 Credits)

Soft solder metal joints.

Unit Standard 25413 (Level 2) (Version 2) (3 Credits)

Draw and form simple patterns for plumbing and gasfitting sheet metal components.

For year 11 - 13 secondary school learners (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or learners with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).

Applications are to be received from participating schools.

Successful completion of the UCOL Academy Introduction to Plumbing, Gasfitting, & Drainlaying programme is the first step in a journey. Equipped with new skills and a taste for the industry, you will know what you need to do to pursue a career in Plumbing, Gasfitting, & Drainlaying industry. If this is for you, you can undertake further tertiary studies in:

• New Zealand Certificate in Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying Level 3

• UCOL Managed Plumbing Apprenticeship
