Studying language and culture will help you to develop an appreciation for other cultures and broaden your horizons. It could also lay the foundation for learning and be a valuable workplace skill, opening up several job opportunities.

At UCOL, language and culture have always been important areas of focus. Our whānau, both students and staff, come from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds and have benefited academically and professionally from language studies. Understanding languages and cultures have also helped us create an inclusive learning and working environment.

Our carefully crafted language classes will offer a wonderful learning experience that will immerse you in the language and its cultural significance. In addition, you will study alongside a diverse group of students from all walks of life, including UCOL staff, working professionals, and the general public.

You can select from a suite of programmes in Māori, English, Samoan, and New Zealand Sign Language, according to your interest.
