UCOL Horowhenua has successfully renewed its Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark (DFQM) until 2027, reinforcing our commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for all ākonga.
Since first receiving the DFQM in 2021, our Horowhenua campus has fostered a culture where dyslexia is openly discussed and supported. Staff and ākonga alike have embraced this inclusive approach, leading to positive outcomes across our learning community.
Key achievements include:
- Enhanced visibility of dyslexia support services
- Increased confidence among ākonga to seek assistance
- Stronger peer support networks
- Personalised learning support for ākonga with dyslexia
- Better academic outcomes and ākonga engagement
"The renewal of our DFQM reflects our ongoing dedication to ensuring every ākonga can succeed," Yvonne Seng, Kaiwhakahaere of the Horowhenua campus, said.
"We're particularly proud of how our community has embraced this initiative, creating an environment where ākonga feel supported to be their authentic selves."
The DFQM demonstrates UCOL’s commitment to providing comprehensive support for ākonga with dyslexia, from enrolment through to completion of their studies.
