Duration: Three days in a week.
One day per week for three weeks (Friday).

Join the UCOL STAR Forklift Safety course to be trained in all theory and practical aspects of forklift operation, and meet the Worksafe forklift operator safety requirements. You'll get an insight into what it's like to work in the road transport, distribution and warehousing industries.

Successful completion of the UCOL STAR Forklift Safety course is the first step in a journey. Equipped with new skills and a taste for industry, you will know what you need to do to pursue a career in road transport, distribution and warehousing. If this is for you, you can undertake further tertiary studies in:

  • Academy Logistics (Commercial Road Transport)

This course comprises 7 credits.

Unit Standard 10851 (Level 3) (7 Credits)
Operate a powered industrial lift truck (forklift).

Note: Achievement of this unit standard does not entitle holders to operate a forklift on a public road. To operate a forklift on a public road, the operator must hold a full drivers licence for the appropriate class of vehicle with Type F (forklift) endorsement.

Study at the UCOL dedicated trades facility.

For year 11 - 13 secondary school learners (NZ Citizens, permanent residents or learners with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).

Applications are to be received from participating schools.

Costs
Fees-free for learners. Upon successful application, your school will pay UCOL a fee.
