Overview

This introductory plumbing taster provides a practical insight into the trade and the pathways available to become a qualified plumber. Participants will explore the role of plumbers, the variety of work they undertake in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, and learn about the qualifications and career opportunities available upon completion of an apprenticeship. During this taster, participants will gain hands-on experience with fundamental plumbing skills, including:

  • Bending and brazing copper pipework

  • Joining plastic pipework using crimp fittings

  • Safe use of basic hand tools

  • Safe operation of battery-power tools for cutting and drilling

  • Introduction to sheet metal work and fabrication techniques

A fully equipped plumbing workshop and access to digital learning.

Domestic Entry Requirements

For year 11 - 13 secondary school learners (NZ citizens, permanent residents or learners with an applicable visa allowing them to be enrolled in a secondary school).
