The UCOL | Te Pūkenga Language Lab is a dedicated virtual space where you can access language support activities. It is designed for those who wish to enhance language proficiency. Each link provides access to a large number of languages including English, Te Reo Māori, French, Arabic and Mandarin.  All of the linked sites are free of charge. Some will require you to register with them.

Te Re Māori

Māori dictionary
This online Māori dictionary is aimed at providing quick access and translation to words and phrases. Audio of correct pronunciation is also provided.

Māori Language.net
Māori Language.net provides a large number of links to online resources that will assist you in learning Te Reo Māori. These include speaking activities, songs and words & phrases.

New Zealand Sign Language

New Zealand Sign Language Dictionary provides video translations of common 4500+ English to NZSL signs.

This site provides step by step video guides of everyday sign. Watch, learn and practice.

Busuu allows users to interact with native speakers from around the world. There are 12 language courses currently offered: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, and Arabic.

Audacity is an audio editor and recorder. You can use Audacity to record live audio, play back your speaking and change the speed or pitch of your recording.

Listening

This page provides you with a huge number or pre-recorded podcasts to help enhance your listening skills. Alternatively you may want to record your own podcast and share what you have to say with others.

TuneIn brings you live sports, music, news, podcasts, and internet radio from around the world.

eTV
eTV is a New Zealand site that hosts recorded local and international television and radio programmes. This site is good for enhancing your kiwi accent listening skills.

Reading

Readlang
This site uses flashcards and written sentences to help you enhance your reading skills. (40 plus languages).

Writing

Something to write about
This site provides a number of writing prompts to get you writing in English. The host of the site will comment on your writing and you can chat with him via the forums.

Anki
Anki is a site that uses flashcards to help enhance vocabulary development. This site will also be helpful for remembering other subjects such as nursing related topics etc.

Quizlet
Quizlet allows students to study information, like vocabulary, via learning tools and games. This is a fun and interactive site.

Linguee
Linguee is a dictionary based site that provides English translations for a number of different languages.

Clozemaster
Clozemaster provides language learning through gamification. This is a fun and interactive site that offers over 40 languages.

Language Guide
Language guide provides a mixture of vocabulary , reading and listening activities for a number of different languages.
