If you are thinking about a career in the tertiary sector as a lecturer, you will need:

  • to be a subject matter expert
  • industry experience
  • an adult teaching qualification

When applying for a lecturer position, we trust that you will have the first two points in hand.

All new teachers to UCOL Te Pūkenga will work alongside a Te Atakura coach to help them reflect on practice and implement our Te Atakura values into their teaching approach. This is about creating a meaningful experience for students with a whānau-like learning environment where learning excels.

Adult Education Qualifications

If you’re not quite there yet and need a formal qualification, UCOL can help. Our Adult Teaching programmes will provide the skills you need, including a sound understanding of educational theory and a repertoire of strategies for teaching and learning, assessment and programme design.
